Some common questions people usually ask…!!
- Why the hype now?
- Is it really a far-fetched or is it close to world dominance?
- Does AI really matter to me?
- Will AI really affect our lives for the better or worst?
- How far is it from completion?
First thing first as soon as you hear the word “Artificial Intelligence” what comes to your mind???
And Google isn’t helping either 😒 !!!
This is literally what you get when you google AI.
Some people view AI as nothing but 1’s & 0’s
According to me right now it is somewhere in between above two…
To know about something, first, learn it’s history. So get ready for a short ride in the history of AI…
History of AI
1. So more than 60 years up so why such hype now??
2. What are the reasons for AI and Machine Learning are getting popular now??
Only two words for this Data and Computational Power.
- Data – Over the last two years alone 90 percent of the data in the world was generated, this resulted in a huge amount of data which was previously not available.
- Computational Power – It is getting cheaper day by day, don’t believe me check below 😅
Still having doubts about existance of AI??
Let me prove it to you…
You must have heard of the news that computer defeated World champion players in many games…
Hold on a minute don’t we have computer playing chess against human way before itself what is special now???
Have you heard the chinese game “GO”???
As we can see it is a board game. The specialty of this game is the number of possible moves in the game.
In chess we have are over 9 million different possible positions after threemoves each. There are over 288 billion different possible positions after fourmoves each. The number of distinct 40 move games is far greater than the number of electrons in the observable universe
But the number of possible moves in GO is the number of atoms in the universe or the number of stars in the sky.
What we mean here is it is impossible to compute all the possible moves in advance so the AI needs to put in some form of intelligence and make the moves in the game in real time.
Even a top player in GO if asked why he played a move his reply is usually “Felt like it” or “It felt right at that moment” this is what intelligence means right making rational decision based on your intuition.
This is a chinese GO grandmaster “Lee Sedol”
AlphaGo(A Google artificial intelligence program) defeated a Chinese grand master at the ancient board game. It defeated him by making some moves that were not even seen in the entire history of the game(these strange moves was built on its own). Those moves are taught to children in school who are currently training for the championships.
So are you convinced that AI is really a thing now..?
Fields getting affected by this…!
“What ever the eye meets and beyond…” this is not a joke. Intelligence is involved in every field, so it will affect all the fields and improve it. There is no point in fearing the change if it is inevitable it is just a matter of time so we can adapt and know more about it.
All fields of AI everything is still in a rapid advancement mode. I would like to tell that we are in a period of time where there is an ongoing rapid advancement whether we like it or not just like all the four Industrial evolution till date.
Industrial revolution everywhere might have been the key to shaping the era until now but the next big thing is coming whether we like it or not. Some ground breaker things might happen in a few years or a few decades or might even not take place in our lifetime but it is inevitable.
A quick question to who all are still not convinced about AI existence
Even though everything comes down to 0’s & 1’s in case of computers, if AI is successfully able to come close to a level where the difference between human and machines are undetectable does it really matter even though it consists of just 0’s & 1’s??
So I encourage each and everyone to learn more about Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Starting now I will be actively posting my thoughts, so please reach out to me and follow me on linkedin, twitter and give a clap for this post if you liked this post which will encourage me to do more posts.
Next, I have a series of the blog coming up with why do we prefer machine learning overall methods for machine learning with all the basics of AI that are required for starting out in the field of AI & ML make sure to follow me on medium, linkedin, twitter, Instagram.
- Which are the fields that might get affected by this?
- How can I adapt to these changes?
- Do I need to fear it or embrace it?
